Sometimes the simplest change can make the biggest difference, and this garlic basmati rice is the perfect example! By gently frying the garlic first, you infuse every fluffy grain with garlicy goodness. It’s the perfect partner for a curry. Serves two.
Ingredients.
- 150g basmati rice
- 300ml water
- 1-2 cloves garlic, diced
- 1 tbsp oil
Equipment.
- Saucepan
Quick wins.
- Use frozen, chopped garlic.
Prep.
- Weigh out 150g of basmati rice.
- Dice the garlic cloves finely.
Cook.
- In a saucepan, heat a small amount of oil over medium heat.
- Add the diced garlic and sauté until fragrant and golden, about 1-2 minutes.
- Add the basmati rice to the pan and stir to coat the rice with the garlic-infused oil.
- Pour in the 300ml of water and bring to a boil.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pan with a lid and let it simmer for 10-12 minutes or until the water is absorbed and the rice is soft.
- Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.
Enjoy.
Serve your garlic basmati rice as a side dish with your favourite main. Great garnished with fresh coriander.
